The Rebirth of the Victorian Calling Card

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Currently the Webring is reorganizing. For my prospective members please go to the Submit page and email me with the information you would normally put on that page. I will go in and submit your site and then add it to the ring from there.

Current ring members, if you need to make a change to your site, please email me with your changes and I will get those in also.

Thank you for your time and patience while the Webring.org reorganizes.

I've decide to bring back the the old tradition of using Calling Cards.  In the mid to late 1800's a calling card was called a Visiting Card.  In Victorian Times, when ladies would call upon another, it was a customary to leave her card or if her spouse was absent during the time of the call she was to leave not one, but three calling cards, two of her spouse's card and one of her own.  These were left in a small calling card tray or a special bowl dedicated for the use of holding calling cards.  One card of the spouse was for the hostess and the other one for the other's spouse.  When visiting in a large city it was customary to leave cards when attending an afternoon tea.  Today we may leave them in for any number of reasons.  Many of them listed above in my opening graphic on my Victorian Calling Card Shoppe page.

Hello, I'm Lady Martha of Victorian Essence and I'd like to welcome you to my newest venture...A webring for anyone who'd like to create Victorian calling cards.  Our Co-Ringmistess is Marie of Innovative Design.

I do invite owners of postcards shoppes to join as their postcards, made into calling cards, is a wonderful and easy thing to do!  It attracts more visitors to one's site and allows for the use of the postcard to be used in many more ways when condensed to a calling card!

There are a few rules to keep our ringsites healthy and appealing to the vast majority of users. If you feel you can live up to these standards you will be most welcome to join.

First and foremost, your site needn't be 'all' Victorian, but your Victorian Calling Cards must be.

You must create a page of at least a few calling cards to offer before joining please.

Please have your cards on one site. Multiple pages must be linked consecutively ie. page 1, page 2, page 3. If you must have your cards on 2 different sites, please link from the original site and copy the ring configuration and ring logo to your 2nd site.

Your site must be a family oriented site.

There should not be any nudity on your site, no matter how 'tasteful' art can be.

Your site must not contain any type of hate oriented text or material toward another.

Stolen or non-credited graphics are reason for immediate removal of one's site from the ring.

Our webring, in my eyes, is to be a group of caring individuals who enjoy creating graphics and are willing to help one another when asked a question:)

You must create a few cards before joining this webring. They need to be on their own Calling Card Page :)  This is a 'ring' not a 'group' just so there's no mistakes in submitting your site to this ring :)

It is your choice to have your Index page as the place for your calling card logo or put the logo on your Calling Card Page. Just remember if you use the main index page as your place for the logo, please have a direct link from that page to your calling card page.

With all this said to join the Victorian Calling Card Ring simply click on the Submit Site button below.
